Leg band you can trust

Built for real farm conditions

How does it work?

Stride-On is activated by moisture present in the animal’s environment. Using our CopperFlow™ technology, it releases a steady flow of copper, that naturally supports healthy hooves, skin, and keratin structure, for effective lameness support.

General FAQs

We’ve pulled together the most common questions people have about Stride-On

What does Stride-On do?
Can I use Stride-On to help prevent hoof infections?
My cow often gets recurring hoof problems. Can Stride-On help?
How long does it take to notice an effect?
Is Stride-On a treatment?
Can I re-apply permanent bands?
What does Stride-On do?

Stride-On provides a continuous, low-dose release of copper ions from a band placed above the dew claw. These ions naturally move down the leg with sweat and moisture, forming a gentle antimicrobial layer over the hoof wall, sole, and white line.

Copper is well documented for its broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties. Stride-On supports hoof hygiene and integrity but is not a medicine and does not replace veterinary or hoof trimming care.

Can I use Stride-On to help prevent hoof infections?
Yes. Stride-On helps maintain a cleaner hoof environment, reducing the conditions that allow microbial infections to develop. Early and continuous use offers the best preventive support.
My cow often gets recurring hoof problems. Can Stride-On help?

Yes. Continuous copper contact helps make the hoof surface less hospitable to microbes involved in recurring issues such as digital dermatitis, foot rot, or white line deterioration.

For cows prone to these conditions, Stride-On can be worn continuously, especially during wet or high-risk periods.Always consult your vet or hoof trimmer if lameness persists or worsens.

How long does it take to notice an effect?

That depends on the type and depth of the hoof concern.

  • For mild hygiene issues or early-stage softening, visible improvement may occur within 2–3 weeks.

  • For deeper or long-standing problems, noticeable change may take longer.

Stride-On works best as part of a consistent routine with proper trimming, cleaning, and nutrition.

Is Stride-On a treatment?
No. Stride-On is a supportive hoof-care device that complements normal management and veterinary care. It helps preserve hoof hygiene and resilience but is not a therapeutic or curative product.
Can I re-apply permanent bands?
Not really. Permanent bands use a high-strength Velcro closure designed for single application and long-term use. While it is technically possible to reopen and reapply them, doing so is difficult and can weaken the closure, increasing the risk of band loss. If a band must be removed, it's best to replace it with a new one to ensure secure fit and consistent performance.
Condition-specific FAQs

We’ve compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about how Stride-On helps with various conditions

What is foot rot?
How does Stride-On support cows with foot rot?
What is digital dermatitis (Mortellaro disease, hairy heel warts, strawberry foot rot)?
Can Stride-On help with digital dermatitis?
What is white line disease?
Can Stride-On help with white line disease?
What general benefits does Stride-On provide to the hoof horn?
What is foot rot?

Foot rot is a painful bacterial infection that begins between the claws, often after skin softening or injury. Typical signs include swelling, heat, and a foul odour. It is commonly caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum and Dichelobacter nodosus.

How does Stride-On support cows with foot rot?
Stride-On provides ongoing surface-level copper contact that helps suppress microbial load around the hoof and interdigital cleft.

It supports hygiene during and after recovery by maintaining a cleaner environment.Stride-On should be used alongside veterinary advice and hoof trimming when active infection is present.
What is digital dermatitis (Mortellaro disease, hairy heel warts, strawberry foot rot)?

Digital dermatitis is a contagious bacterial infection of the skin around the heel or dewclaw, caused mainly by Treponema species. It produces raw, painful lesions that can recur if the environment stays moist and dirty.

Can Stride-On help with digital dermatitis?

Stride-On can assist by maintaining a surface environment that is less favourable to bacterial growth. Always seek veterinary advice for active, open, or painful lesions before use.

What is white line disease?
White line disease occurs when the junction between the hoof wall and sole weakens, allowing dirt and microbes to enter and cause abscesses or lameness.
Can Stride-On help with white line disease?
Stride-On acts on surface-accessible areas only. It cannot reach deep separations beneath the hoof wall.

After debridement or trimming by a professional, Stride-On helps maintain hoof hygiene and reduce reinfection risk as new horn grows.
What general benefits does Stride-On provide to the hoof horn?
Copper ions from Stride-On bind lightly to the outer keratin layer, forming a thin mineral film that helps the horn stay cleaner, firmer, and more resistant to softening in wet or dirty conditions. Stride-On does not alter keratin formation—it helps protect what is already there.
Housed animals FAQs

We’ve compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about how Stride-On

I'm using a hoof bath or mats to control hoof infections. Can I use Stride-On?
My cows are kept in a very dry environment. Can I use Stride-On?
My bedding sticks and cakes around the band. Will it still work?
I am using lime in my barn. Can I still use Stride-On?
I'm using a hoof bath or mats to control hoof infections. Can I use Stride-On?

Yes. Stride-On sits above the level of your footbath or mat solution, so there is little direct contact with the band. However, if you use acidified copper or formaldehyde-based footbaths, the band may release copper more quickly, which can shorten its lifespan. In such cases, monitor band condition and replace as needed.

My cows are kept in a very dry environment. Can I use Stride-On?
Yes. Stride-On relies on a small amount of environmental moisture (such as urine, manure, or humidity) to activate and release copper ions. In very dry conditions, we recommend wetting the bands once a day to maintain effectiveness. You can use a hose to wet the band but be careful to not overdo it, as this would wash copper away from the hoof surface and reduce performance.
My bedding sticks and cakes around the band. Will it still work?

If bedding regularly sticks and hardens around the band, it can block the release of copper and reduce or stop the band's effect. This usually happens when bedding is very fine, damp, or compacted by humidity or poor drainage. If the environment remains persistently wet or sticky despite these steps, Stride-On may not perform optimally in those conditions and might not be the best fit for that housing system.

I am using lime in my barn. Can I still use Stride-On?

Yes, you can use Stride-On where lime is used, but avoid excessive or caustic (hydrated) lime. Lime can reduce copper release from the band and irritate skin if it builds up on the legs. If lime is used, apply it sparingly, and keep cubicles and alleys clean and dry. Stride-On works best in well-managed environments with moderate lime use and good hygiene.

Safety & maintenance FAQs

We’ve pulled together the key questions on using and maintaining Stride-On safely

How long does a Stride-On band last?
Can Stride-On be used year-round?
Can Stride-On be used with topical hoof products?
When should I seek professional help?
How long does a Stride-On band last?

Each band typically remains active for one lactation period under normal conditions. Activity depends on humidity, wear, and management. You can check copper activity by touch (the metallic insert should remain visible and intact) or with a copper test strip. Replace the band when the copper is exhausted or the strap shows wear.

Can Stride-On be used year-round?
Yes. It is safe for continuous or seasonal use, especially in wet environments or where hoof hygiene problems are frequent. Some users apply it continuously; others use it during high-risk months.
Can Stride-On be used with topical hoof products?

Yes. It is compatible with most hoof-cleaning, conditioning, and veterinary treatment routines. Avoid direct application of corrosive chemicals (such as formalin) to the band.

When should I seek professional help?

If your cow shows persistent lameness, deep cracks, swelling, discharge, or strong odour, contact your veterinarian or hoof trimmer promptly. Stride-On supports hoof care but diagnosis and treatment decisions must be made by qualified professionals.
