Mark brown's herd normally had SCC around 100,000 with no infringements. A proactive Snapshot® test detected high levels of hygiene markers, prompting further investigation.
The source was quickly identified: a hot water tank element failure. Farm staff were alerted, and the repair was underway before any regulatory infringement. Additional testing identified Staph aureus cows, which were segregated to prevent spread.
